Preventative Maintenance

Customers who perform regular inspections, cleanings, filter and belt replacements, etc., of the equipment they own agree that these tasks help to extend the life of their existing equipment and typically results in fewer service calls throughout the year. Visit the manufacture's website for the equipment you own for tips on how to clean and maintain your equipment. If you need cleaners, sanitizers, belts or filters, call our office at (828-253-7801) and we will be happy to help you get what you need.

Some other basic maintenance tips for most equipment include:
  • Make sure your unit is in a well-ventilated area.
  • Ensure the unit is free from heavy dust and dirt - you can use a can of air to blow out dust from around compressors and fans, etc.
  • Place an accurate thermometer inside the unit to accurately check temperature - be aware of fluctuations if unit goes into defrost mode or if doors have been propped open for an extended period of time.
  • Adjust thermostats (colder or warmer) depending on the problem you are experiencing.
  • If you see that you need gaskets replaced, call us for service.
  • If you notice the power cord is frayed, call us or an electrician to have it changed so that it does not cause a more serious issue.

Alarms & Chart Recorders

In addition to keeping your equipment in good working order, you should consider further protecting the contents by using Alarms and/or Chart Recorders. These devices can be anything from simple to complex. They can utilize simple visual or audible alarms, chart temperatures, and humidity, and can even send email, text message, or phone call alerts when the temperature exceeds the user-determined limits.
We can help you decide what will meet your needs and our technicians can install your chart recorder or alarm. Catching a possible unit failure early and calling us for service may help you get ahead of a potential problem.

Before & After

Here is an example of the inside of an ice machine where the ice is formed then dropped into the bin to be served. As you can tell, these areas tend to get lots of mold and slime buildup and need routine cleanings to keep ice fresh and the machine functioning at its best.
